Connecting 2

My first trip coming to this town was by rail. It may not be state-of-the-art system, but it was efficient and acceptably comfortable. This year the town's rail way system celebrates 101 years of service. Sadly, at the same time, they are plans from the central office to discontinue services to some rural areas due to unprofitability. I have no further details as yet.. let's just hope the changes will not be too drastic

Love the black and gray tones! Train travel is so much fun but our country has little of it. Had to blog one more time before I fly away to Mexico Sunday afternoon. Glad I did so I could see this photo!

Oooh, so atmospheric, Does make it seem a bit antiquated though. I once slept on the concourse of railway station in Vienna, when my train from Budapest arrived too late for my connection to Venice. It was held up coming from Bucharest, I think - so can't blame Hungarian railways!! Come to think of it it was about 1991 and I think regimes were collapsing all over Eastern Europe, and it might have been delayed in one of the areas of former Yugoslavia...

I love train travel too. Too bad they're cutting back. We had the same here with routes cut. I want to take the train to Toronto this year. I agree, this is nice in b/w.

Your use of B&W really conveys the gritty feel of the rails. Very well done!
